Disappointing day with great weather in Berlin.
I felt pretty good on the first 5K keeping near my 7:48 pace. When I hit the second 5k the road narrowed by quite a bit and it got crowded slowing me down. The sun felt warm in this part so I slowed a little bit, but not too much.
I think it was around 10k the road narrowed to about 8-10 feet which is crazy. That slowed it more.
As I was nearing the 20k mark, I could tell I was going to struggle the entire second half. I hit the half way point just over 1:45 but had to mentally get tough to finish without walking, which I've never done.
With a few miles to go, I figured I could just finish them at 10:xx and get under 3:50.
Not sure what happened as I felt fully rested. Hamstring gave no issues. I really didn't feel any ailments, but couldn't power myself forward at the targeted pace.
I probably could have started at a 9 pace and finished faster, so it was frustrating.
But Marathon Number 7 is in the books, with this one ranking #3 in time.
