Notes
Decided Friday night I would avoid the potential storms and humidity on Saturday morning and opted for a long treadmill run where I could control my speed. I had cooled the fitness room down to 68 degrees over the night, but it was 80 degrees at the end of the run.
Every 2 miles I paused the treadmill for about 15 seconds to drink water and hopped right back on. That should be similar to the water stops during the marathon. I treated this like 9 2-mile runs, just took it two miles at a time.
I do like how the treadmill teaches me to keep that consistent stride. This is the average pace I need for a 4 hour marathon.
It was just at the start of the last mile where I could start to feel it in my stomach from the exhaustion, but it only lasted a half mile and felt better that last half mile. I ended up doing a cooldown walk of 1 mile after the run.
Had a 379 calorie breakfast at 8:15 AM, ran at 10:30 AM, one GU after 8 miles.
2 miles @ 6.3mph
2 miles @ 6.4 mph
2 miles @ 6.5 mph
6 miles @ 6.6 mph
4 miles @ 6.7 mph
2 miles @ 6.8 mph
Weather forecast looks like some cooler mornings next weekend to get back outdoors.
Calves were very tired all afternoon laying on the sofa watching golf.
