Well, I have a knee injury. I get an ache around my kneecap that gets progressively worse as I run. It's probably from me being dumb as I had a recent large increase in mileage from 22 mpw to 27 over two weeks. So what should I do now? Obviously, I'm taking a few weeks off from running, but can I still lift weights (squats, deadlifts, and the like that are knee intensive)? Also, would a low impact cardio like ellipticals be good or should I just stay off the knee completely? Also, would this be ITBS or runner's knee? It seems to be runner's knee giving the type of pain, but I'm not sure. The pain is kind of all around the kneecap not just along the outside. Sometimes it vaguely feels like I need to pop my knee.

What has really helped is doing quad-strengthening exercises and wearing a patella strap for most of my runs (this isn't a cure, but it helps keep the kneecap tracking a bit better as the tendons and muscles around the knee heal).

Zoomy, Just went in to doctor today and was told to try that strappy thing, where do you pick them up? CC
MTA: I picked up a cheap one from Walmart that is just a strap under the kneecap. It has a little tube inside it to provide some support.

Good job on the long run, Kirsten! Was it hot?
