'Sup!
Just one week left of this wretched month. Not that getting to March signifies anything but more of the same (as was the case in '14 & '13) but hey, a boy can dream.
Now then, what's up with you today?

'Morning. We got six more inches of snow yesterday ffs. Today is going to feel tropical! I am looking forward to running in 40 degrees. Back to the arctic freeze tomorrow though.
First up is shoveling some snow and hitting up Costco.
Enjoy your Sunday, kiddos!

Got some snow here too. Yesterday I was feeling comebacks from my (not so) old groin injury, from running fast this last week, but probably from running on snowy surfaces too.
Since today is a MP run, and the snow has finished falling just about now, I'm a bit worried what that will do to my groin.

I probably will not run until Tuesday. Rain turning to sleet tonight. I would prefer to skip running on shaky ground since I am still recovering from injury.

I am ready for February to be over damn it.
I decided to go to the gym first then try for a run afterwards, so I hit the gym for 50 minutes of circuits focusing on my biceps, triceps, and chest.

Then Rocky and I hit the roads for a run, it was slippery and I almost fell around mile 1 but it was all good. We ran 4.1 miles and I didn't feel too bad although a little achy which I think was mainly due to my legs working hard as hell to keep up right.

It's warmed up to 50 and we're getting some rain, which is helping melt the ice, I'll be able to run outside today, woohoo! 6 recovery miles on tap.
My LRS is having a Saucony test run Tuesday night, I'm gonna try out the new Zealots, I think that might become my new training shoe if I like it. It's supposed to be well cushioned like the Triumph, but it's over 2oz lighter.
Also on Tuesday will be my first VO2 Max workout, 12 miles with 6x1200m @ 3-5k pace. Does anyone do intervals on the street? I'll need to do that workout in the morning and I'm not sure I can use the track by my house. 1200m is about 3/4 of a mile, so I can easily track that with my Garmin.
Cyberic, from yesterday, right now I'm targeting a goal half on 11 April, and then a goal 10k on 23 May. Not sure what time I'll be shooting for yet, need to get in some 5ks and see where my fitness is, but I'm feeling really good with the speed work.

We have some light rain and temps in the mid-40s, so it's good to feel some winterish weather. Planning on 10 or so miles today.
I'm trying to decide whether to sign up for the Modesto HM next month. I have run it 3 straight years, and usually focus on it as a goal race because the course is flat and the weather cool. If I run it this year, it's going to be more of a status check to see where I'm at given how much my mileage and training has fallen off over the last couple of month. I don't want to depress myself, but I can't get into the mind-set that every race needs to be a PR.
Life is good.
Former Bad Ass
Morning. I ran 18 miles. It got pretty warm at the end, but it was a nice run. Summer weather next week which I am not going to be happy with. Meh.
Damaris
Cross training workout involving a shovel. I'm ready for spring. Not sure if I am going to run today or not. My "week" in my garmin log goes Monday-Sunday. Sunday-yesterday I've done 35 miles, which is high for me, so thinking a rest day may be in order.
Hi all. I ran, I think. It's been so long, I'm not sure I remember. I propelled myself in a forwardly direction at a quickish pace. I spent an inordinate amount of time dodging leftover ice patches on the sidewalks, but I didn't fall over, not even once. 4.15 miles. Most of it sucked.
But the sun is out and the ice is melting. 55 for the high today.
Managed to get in a 9 miles at MP effort, not quite the correct pace though because of the snow/slush on the ground. Did not do the 6 strides prescribed for today, because pushoff on snow makes my legs go all over the place, and I suspect that is not helping my groin.
Whatever, I ran, am rather satisfied with the run, so that's that.
Are we there, yet?
... Does anyone do intervals on the street? I'll need to do that workout in the morning and I'm not sure I can use the track by my house. 1200m is about 3/4 of a mile, so I can easily track that with my Garmin.
I run intervals on the track, on paved trails, and on the street. My basic criteria are to have a clearly marked distance so I can run the same distance repeatedly to compare times and an easy way to also keep the recovery distance constant.
2024 Races:
03/09 - Livingston Oval Ultra 6-Hour, 22.88 miles
05/11 - D3 50K, 9:11:09 05/25 - What the Duck 12-Hour
06/17 - 6 Days in the Dome 12-Hour.
11miles with 3x2 miles at half marathon pace on moderately frozen roads. Single digit temps tonight, so yeah.
PRs:
5k - 20:51 - 9/5/15
10k - 47:00 - 5/25/15
15k - 1:10:19 - 11/21/15
13.1 - 1:42:25- 4/25/15
26.2 - TBD (someday)
I don't have a track nearby so all my intervals are on the sidewalk or street, best case scenario at the park (same as street). I actually have never done intervals on a track since I would have to drive a lot to find one.
Good morning, everyone. I hope that all is well.
Rick, thank you for starting today's thread.

I'm f****** terrified.
