If you still do the same distance, it's probably better to do it at the end for a MP run. I'm not sure about a track session if I want to run 4-5 miles prior.
I typically run 3 miles, but once ran 5 before the quality portion of a run; GEEZUS did that suck!
I usually do 3 as well. I did a 3.8 mile warmup before my last 5k, and I think it was too much.

Try 4/12/4 during a 20 miler. That shit takes forever.

SO close to being done with my thesis. SOOOO. CLOOOOSE. I need to order pizza and pick the kid up from school and then get back to my BFFs, Microsoft fucking Word and Powerpoint and Adobe Illustrator and Mendeley.
I remember mine. Good times! Not.
I love today's dailies
Too bad I'm joining this late. I now log my runs with the purpose of the said run. No more Intervals, Tempo...
Of course with this system there are times when it gets confusing also, as if I do MP stuff during a long run, but I don't care because either way it's true (but I'll usually choose Long Run)
I also have a mixed paces I use once in a while when I can't really figure out how to categorize my run, lol.
I also have track that I use at times. This could pretty much always be substituted by another category, but IDC.
Usually I manage to use one of the 6 categories with bullets.
Exactly.

B Plus was a dailies member who famously ran the last 6.2 miles of the Chicago Marathon one year at something ridiculous like his 10k pace. Anyway, you were trying to figure out how to program 400 meter repeats into your Garmin, beginning each new rep every 90 seconds (INCLUDING recoveries) as he had done. It's something that's basically impossible for most of us, but an in-depth, 10 page discussion ensued and they thus became known as BP intervals.

Oh, yes, I DO remember that!! I shared that crazy workout with my PT, too. Because it's something he can actually do as prescribed, unlike me.
chasing the impossible
because i never shut up ... i blog
6 total. I thought I had programmed my Garmin for 45 seconds hard with 2:15 minute recoveries x 10. Big fail, I had 45 MINUTES for the 1st interval. I glanced at my watch when the first interval seemed to go on way to long, then realized my mistake. So I got to hit the lap key each time & did them close enough to 45 seconds. The last 1.5 miles or so the weather did a drastic switch, strong cold winds and light snow blowing all over the place.
I thought the BP intervals were 200 m and took about 30 seconds?
You are probably right. Point was, there are not many (who post here anyway) that could pull them off.
Indeed. Remember them BP intervals? Yeah, you're good at what you do. lol
The way I remember them is 70 secs for 200 meters (including recoveries), but my memory has been known to be quite unreliable.
For me, 400s in 90 secs would pretty much result in a continuous run of 1600-2000 meters , then a face plant and death.
10 easy at the indoor track.
My goodness, what was that a million laps?

5 miles today. The weather was nice.
Personal Bests:
800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)
Nah, just 36.
