WednesDAILIES - Have you hugged your treadmill lately? (Read 33 times)

Forgot to say: 3 miles at 6:35 mpm steady state, Rick? That's something I will NEVER be able to write in the dailies. Jeeze, that's a lot of speed for a steady state run... Well done!

I used to think that as well.  You will never know unless you commit to speed work with the 5k as your base race distance.  If you do that, you will run times that you never thought possible.

This I promise.  This I swear.

No different than an opossum, who like the treadmill had no hand in what it is or how it looks.  I therefore have no beef with either of them.

I have no earthly idea what you're talking about sometimes.

That's a funny, and weird, analogy. LOL...

+1. I was thinking of Rick and Jay this morning as the news had a purple snow depth thing over Detroit and Buffalo. It looks like they're going to see more of the polar vortex before the week is out.

This morning was a good Tempo run. 20 min Easy + 20 Tempo + 10 Easy + 20 Tempo + 20 Easy. It came down to a bit over 10 miles, over half of which were at Tempo pace. I noticed that I ran a 5k at my tempo pace in under 25 minutes this morning. Hopefully that bodes well for my 5k on Saturday where I look to break my current PR of 22:52.

Did I say I was thinking 12 miles with hill repeats? Maybe even sunshine?

              HAHAHAHAHA.

Not. Started snowing just before I headed out. Between playing "guess where the ice patch is" under the new snow and having "forgotten" to stretch my hip/glute yesterday, my body said to shut it down early. 6.3 miles. Of course, now the sun has come out again. Now that I'm done. Well, time to go torture my body with the foam roller in hopes I can complete the rest of the week as scheduled.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

              Dad on the run.

After beating myself up, depressed about my mileage lastweek, and annoyed at the mild calf / achilles issues I decided to mix things up and do some speedwork lastnight. First time I've done speedwork in a very very long time. I could probably count on 1 hand the amount of time I've done speedwork in the two years I've been running. That's my fault though and one I plan to change!

6.5 miles and wow I was tired and sweating like crazy and it felt GREAT!

Also the weight is still on the decline after my jump from skinny to fat over the holidays. Back down from 230ish to 217. Shooting for that sub 200 again Smile

Ahh, no. 2nd highest recorded snowfall in Columbus history and I've recorded zero[0] treadmill miles :>

Tuesday: 8 miles 1:16:01 - 9:30 avg. pace - easy. Running on fumes :< Struggled getting myself to slow down making my run less than continuous. It's raining now and we're expecting it to change to snow later. Might be a good day to take off. Run inspired!

4 miles 36:30 - 9:53 avg. pace - recovery. The rain stopped so I decided to get in a short run before it drops to single digits later. Started raining steady the last mile but @ 44°, even in short pants, felt fine.

No snow, but we've got wind gusting up to 50 mph.  If it's not died down by this afternoon, I'm back on the mill.

                    Life is good.

                      Former Bad Ass

Yesterday's 6 miler gave me 40 miles in the last 7 days, if I think outside of the whole Monday-Sunday or Sunday through Saturday box. So I am taking today and tomorrow off and giving my legs some rest from running, and definitely give them some foam rolling treatment and stretching. I also really need to do some ab/core workouts today, I've been slacking on that and my upper body workouts since last week...... but now for some coffee.

No treadmill for me yet, so no kissy or lovey dovey on a damn treadmill

Mine is on display in the living room. Thankful I didn't need to run in 86F and humid last night.  100F runs are over for me.

To be perfectly honest the last year has been my worst run year in the last 10+ years. Even though I managed to [barely] run 3000 miles last year all four [4] of my races were either [by far] my slowest performances in that window or damn close to it. And this year I've struggled to even run decent mileage [my highest mile week is only 38 miles]. That said, things appear to be slowly turning around as my paces have dropped some, but still slower than they were last year.

I'm looking into seeing a rheumatologist for my joint issues as I'm not willing to accept my age being the reason for my lack of production. I haven't run a race since December and have nothing scheduled in the way I've approached races. I may consider doing some 5ks for speedwork but I'm not in condition to consider being competitive at this point. This winter hasn't been helpful and I'm looking forward to Spring. Thanks for asking.

38 miles is high mileage for many. But I understand that for you, it isn't... I'm sure your age has nothing to do with this. It's way too sudden a change. Do you think your incident last August could have anything to do with it? It could take up to a year before feeling 100% back to normal. That's what I was told.

Your treadmill is on display in the living room? My idea of a perfect place for my treadmill (if and when I ever get one) is one of the rooms downstairs near the windows with my favorite images from www.trailporn.com and selecct pictures of me at finishes. I still haven't decided whether I would want to move my running wall from the office to the treadmill room but hopefully if and when we begin building our company's new shop out on the home property I can talk DH into making my office big enough for a treadmill.

Impressive!  I suppose if I were willing to run in the street I could have pulled something like that off.  But alas, I have not gotten to that point and probably never will.

Also, if I lived closer to my loop the treadmill would not even be in the discussion.  But a 45 minute drive one way makes that impractical for all except weekend runs.
