Spoiler. I have no thoughts of doing higher mileage through the end of the year. I'll try to keep my sd below 10.
That's just what someone would say when trying to lure a competitor into a false sense of security....
5k 23:48.45 (3/22); 4M 31:26 (2/22); 5M 38:55 (11/23); 10k 49:24 (10/22); 10M 1:29:33 (2/24); Half 1:48:32 (10/22); Marathon 4:29:58 (11/23)Upcoming races: Running is Back 10k, 5/12; Greta's Run 5k, 5/19
Week 49 - Still neck and neck between Bluerun and wcrunner2. 2 more weeks left for this year. Next year's game will start on Monday, January 2, which means I won't have much time to post the goals since I need to wait for 2022 to be done (i.e. I'll have to do it on Sunday, January 1). I'm inclined to give DanFuller the benefit of the doubt for 2023 and use actual history rather than fudging it up as we did for 2022.
Any lurkers/wallflowers interested in joining for 2023, please speak up soon. Same goes for any active forum members who aren't in. One note - if you're "in" please stay in. The game doesn't really work if people jump in and out depending on how they think their year will be.

I'm still IN please. and I will try not to lurk as much. My goal for 2023 is top 3. 🤣
Thanks for continuing this.

Thanks for the confirmations. To be clear, I'm assuming everyone in the 2022 game is in for 2023. Only new entrants need respond.
I was going to opt out, because I don't really care about mileage, about pace, about any numbers related to running actually. I simply run because it is very good for me and I'm already doing it, so I'd be dumb to stop and then regret it. And since this is a numbers game, I was thinking what's the use?
So after reading the last couple of posts I'm thinking if you prefer to have more players, to have a bigger ranking system and all that, keep me in. But although I can't know the future, you've seen how I have phased out of the forum life, and I don't really plan to come back in to start talking about running. So yeah, if you prefer to have active players who interact and all that, you can scratch me, and I will not complain.
My vote would be to only include regular posters and/or those who otherwise opt in. But I'm not managing this thing, so don't mind me; however Fred wants to handle it is OK.

With this post you have interacted more than plenty of others on that list!
And, hi Cyber!
Dave
Active-only vs. not active is a tough choice. What's threshold for being "active?" I definitely do not want to get into the issue of enforcing anything in that regard. To Cyberic's point, I do believe it works better with more people - too few and the 10 - 100 StdDev points don't work as well. Including inactives avoids the problem the other game has of having to drum up participants each year. My mind is not made up, however, so I'm willing to listen to other thoughts.
Please count me in for the game.

Hey btw - I saw a friend of yours while running Chicago. There was a woman wearing a PPTC shirt, I asked if she knew you. She said "yes, she's very fast." I concurred.
Clearly someone who knew me in the past and not the present
Week 50 - Still 5 points between 2nd and 3rd (or 1st and 2nd, based on Dave's definition). Less than 10 points, or a StdDev shift, between Baboon, wcrunner2, and Bluerun.
1 week to go. I'll start a new thread for annual results (and maybe pin it).
Are we there, yet?
I expect to continue to drop in the standings as a sore ankle limits my training.
