Thermophilous Thursday Penguins (Read 29 times)

SheCan

    Good morning friends!

Scotty *raises hand*, Me, Scotty, I'm themophilous!  Unless that is its summer, then I am whinyphilous.  Good luck on your hilly run by the zoo.  Running up those hills might warm you up.

Docket-- 83* after dark in the winter?  That's just crazy!  I really don't know how you get all the miles you do.  Good luck to Trixie, poor sweetie.

Bin-- that's an awfully long day.  You're still on recuperation from your marathon;  you deserve the day off!

Dan-- hugs to you.  Please be careful with that knee.  Doing nothing is so much better than accidentally dislodging some of it or making it worse.

Jack-- enjoy your well earned rest!

HsM-- ohoh, I hope you do get to retire to Aruba!  Just thinking about it sounds absolutely wonderful AND WARM!

Obie-- hope you have a great rest day!

Zel- are you at least enjoying the days off?   I'm with you, I think Jack should pick Portand and come see you!

Jerry-- glad the back spasms are doing better.  I promise you'll have more running weather tomorrow-- not saying what that weather will be. ;-)

Jimmy-- good for you for making yourself just do it!

    kristin-- Hugs sweetie.

I thought about doing the stationary bike today, and then nixed it.  Though perhaps I should.  Got on the scale earlier today, and realized I'm up a couple of pounds.  OOps...maybe I should start watching my diet again.  Also, I have something (a piece of glass perhaps?) stuck in the front of my foot.  I can't see it, or feel anything with my finger.  Does anyone know how to take something invisible outta your foot?

SheCan, although that is 5F above average, we have not had a Winter in 4 years.  In fact, we are approaching Summer for 12 months state.  The dewpoint of 73 in december is weird.  That is May/June humidity.

She Can - I feel you on the weight gain, although I'm up a couple of lbs times like 10! Tongue YIKES! November/Decemeber is not a good month to not be running for me! I just laugh and tell my wife I'm bulking! haha

You need to get out of there. You might like the southwest. Yes, it's hot in summer but you get nice winters.

LMAO@ bulking!!!!  I think that's what I'm going to say i'm doing too.  Plus I'm a lot shorter then you, Jimmy.  On me, 3 lbs looks like 10, I swear.  Glad you're at least getting the weightlifting in.  Can you tell if it helps with weight maintenance at all?  Some people say it does.

+1.  We love you out here, Docket.  Move out here, and you can even go on wine tours with me and DH!

She Can - I can tell the weight that I have gained looks different than it would have before I started the weight lifting. Right now I'm sitting at 220 from 194 but as soon as Christmas is come and gone I'm going to really focus and get back down to ~200 +/- a few lbs. I don't think I will ever stop the weights though. Its become as much of me as the running has and I can notice a difference already in my arms and back more than anywhere else but my wife swears my chest and legs look a lot better too Smile My midsection however.... not so much! Both my parents carry the majority of their weight right around the midsection so I got some serious love handles right now and then throw on some running tights and I got some FO' REAL muffin toppin' going on.

                          Singer who runs a smidge

This is way more important than you realize until you can't do it!  I spent my month of bootedness taking baths.

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

                            GinnyinPA

Scotty - I like heat, I like cold, most of all I love sunshine, whatever the temperature.  I hate gray skies, which is why I don't live in Montana or Alaska, where I'd really prefer to be.  Pennsylvania has four good seasons, which I really like, but the last year was a lot more gray than I'm happy with.  Enjoy your hills tonight.

Damaris - I hope you get to bring Trixie home.  Enjoy your run.  Is your DH too injured to run, or just keeping it short?  Whenever we go to Florida, we seem to hit the coldest part of winter.  One year it was down in the 20's at night.  But we haven't spent much time in the south.  We did one drive out to Key West in the rain and spent a few days in the Everglades before we got our dog, but otherwise, we pretty much stay farther north.

Bin - sorry for the long work day.  Is that typical or is there an emergency on?  Hope you get to run tomorrow.

Dan - ouch to the twisted knee.  That's the main reason I don't run outside more in winter, I am so paranoid about hurting myself on the ice.  I've had a few small twists and slides, and DH really screwed up his knee replacement by slipping on the ice.  He also had a clot when we were thruhiking the CDt several years ago.  It wasn't anything as bad as yours.  I got injured and we took a week off to make sure I was going to be okay (rock slide took the end off my finger) and the week of rest plus Advil and heating pads was enough to dissolve the clot.  Before that he was in pain every step, so I can't imagine trying to run on it.  It was hard enough trying to backpack.

Tracilynn - have fun at the gym.  I hope the temps there are "just right" for you ;-)

Jack - are you doing any walking or running to stay loose while you're resting?

HopesMom - enjoy your gig tonight.  Where are you singing?  Mostly Christmas music or is it a mixed concert?

Obiebyke - stay warm and have a good rest day.

Zelanie - five days off school:   the kids are happy but their parents are probably climbing the walls by now.  Are you doing any running or is it too icy to be out?

Jerry - what did you do to your back?  Shoveling snow?  Hope you feel better soon.  It seems like the best running weather is always when you can't run.  BTDT

Jimmy - good job getting out, despite the cold.  Are you planning to do the whole C25k again?

Kristin - (((hugs)))  Enjoy the shower.  Hot water is such a blessing when you haven't had it for a while.

Cherie - I'm surprised that you put on any weight with as much running as you do.  I gained a lot this fall, between my injury and our travels, but I find it hard to get serious about losing weight this time of year between Thanksgiving, birthday and Christmas indulgences.  I don't lose weight well when I'm running, because I seem to be hungry all the time, but I'm hoping that going from very little activity on our trip to running again will shock my body into dropping a little weight.  The feeling of glass in your foot - could it be a neuroma?  I hope not.

AFM:  I'll probably go on the TM this afternoon.  Walking the dog in 20 degrees was okay, but I'm not sure I'm ready to run in it yet.  OTOH, the sun is shining.

Ginny, that must have not been in South Florida indeed. We never get below 60F ever and that happens only once in a while.  Think tropical climate and we are 90% that since we are very close to the Tropic of Cancer.
