Masters Running

Thoisday -January 25 - West Coast Start (Read 37 times)

What?? Is my brain deceiving me or am I starting the daily??

Steve - I hope you are able to find a good spot for Mia.  She looks like she's full of love.

My resolve to get up and walk this morning was drowned out by almost an hour of thunder and lightening beginning around 4:30 and then rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, hail, and more rain. I'm not opposed to running or walking in the rain, but it was a freaking deluge.  Of course, now that I'm at work blue skies are showing.  *sigh*.  I told The Hub I'm going for a walk when I get home, unless it's a total downpour.

    Enjoy ~~

Hi Posai - nice to see  you pop in!!

Leslie - hope you don't get rained out from your walk!!

Really? I'm the 4th to post after Leslie started the daily? At least we know the Easties are still there since Deez posted.

Nothing here for me yet, planning on a pool run at lunchtime. Temp is -26° here so just as glad to not be running.

              morning!

Woke up at 5:15 to an automated call from the school that they were on 2 hr delay due to weather. I figured there must be snow out there but too dark to see, so I just turned off my alarm and went back to sleep.

woke up about an hour later and could see we got a whole inch of snow.

I waited for the icey snow (it was about 31 degrees at my house) to turn to slush, which didn't take too long and came into work a couple hrs late also.

              Will run after work.

              Tammy

I heard aliens are kidnapping earthlings again! Must have gotten coastwalker!!!  Be careful out there. I think umbrellas help. Aliens cannot see under them and will not know you are an earthling. Of course, worst comes to worst the umbrella will keep rain off of you as well.

I ran 13 this morning. My life is sort of like the inverse of this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y13DI7x2kRA. Of course, my DW has not walked out on me so that is good. Otherwise, I seem to continue to be snake bit. My DW is spending the night in the city with her friend. So I agreed to go to a business dinner tonight where I work in New Haven (about 45 to 55 minute drive each way). My original idea was to get to the office in the early afternoon when the construction crew left my house after tearing down and repairing the sheetrock on the foyer ceiling that had gotten wet after the ice dam formed during that arctic blast a bit over a week ago. Turns out they are going to be here until at least 4pm. Which means I am going into New Haven just for this dinner and then driving home again.

To be fair, I don't mind going out in the rain, but when it's still dark and it's raining and/or hailing so hard it scares the cats and they run under the bed and it sounds like it's going to come through the skylights . . . well, staying under my covers seemed the better part of non-stupidity. (Yes, I am trying to validate my inactivity. )

And to be totally honest, it doesn't take much to scare Chico and send him under the bed.  If The Hub sneezes 2 or more times, he's outta here and we won't see him for a good hour or more, so pounding rain, hail, lightening and thunder - poor guy.

Chico is a fair weather kinda guy.  Kinda reminds me another "cat."

I thought about that twice and still can't figure out who you're talking about.

Took advantage of a dentist appointment to sleep in until regular departure time and THEN go out for a run.  3.1 miles in 20° and a nice breeze.  But hit the dressing just about right.  That part was nice, the cleaning went well, but the sore tooth that's been bugging me for the past few days--not so much.   Now have an appointment with their root canal specialist next Wednesday.  the double shot of ibu and acetaminophen someone mentioned earlier is working pretty well.

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.

Tammy - that first layer of snow can be pretty slick, though.

I am only taking Motrin today and it seems to be working, although time will tell, as it has been the worst in the afternoon/evening.  However, I am hopeful that I have turned a corner on this.  I can't believe it hurt this long.  I know the oral surgeon will say something like, "Well, you must have a low pain tolerance."    Nope, it just hurt a lot, buddy.  Don't make it MY fault.

Ran a little short on time this morning, so just 3 miles on the TM.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Holly - If he says that, offer to kick him in the nether regions nice and solidly with steel-toed boots and ask him to let you know when it stops hurting.  As an aside, offer ibu and Tylenol as a pain reliever.

Good to hear it's getting better, Holly.

Emma doesn't like it when we talk loud. If DH gets a little worked up (usually after watching the news) and raises his voice, she comes running over and rubs her head on his chin like she's trying to calm him down.

35 minutes of pool running. Today there were more people in the pool than I've seen since I started doing this again. Some doubled up in other lanes, but nobody got in my lane. Nobody wants to swim with the pool runner. Heh, works for me!

........... Nobody wants to swim with the pool runner. Heh, works for me!
