    Mornin' everyone.

    Friday’s freakonomical workouts:

RunnerKSA (5.2 beautiful, flat, pre-meeting miles in Naples, FL)

Dave (4 miles then core work)

    Catwhoorg (4 recover paced miles)

Tomwhite (20 min Poolrun before thunder boomers arrived)

dg. (5.03 miles with windage, mini-hillage, and mini repeats)

    C-R (lunchtime 5K)

Pfriese (7 noontime fine-free miles between rainstorms)

CMDan (7 trail miles with Jello [flavor not specified] legs, and 2 more night miles)

Holly (15 miles in 51° with windage)

StarrRuns (5 rounded lakeside miles with a north wind)

Spacityrunner (3.1 humid, breezy, round the workplace lunchtime miles)

    Evanflein (5.2 not-so-easy miles)

Mariposai (6 bike path miles to break up a 5 hr drive)

Dave, calling them “stupid core workouts” is going to make it harder to get positive results. But stick with it, and you will.

I hope your beer pairings dinner is still a ‘go’ Stumpy.

‘Nother good old CoolRunning session, Tomwhite.

Huge CONGRATS to The Hub, Fatozzig! And I’m glad you’re not complaining about the rain… Rather than a Maine Coon, would you say that Twocat is a scardy cat??

Good luck with the new PT, dg.

C-R, I believe that Ribs had turned the fine-collection duty over to Twocat. And apparently he has ruled on your race tomorrow. (I’d say, go for it!) Next time, follow Stumpy’s advice.

PBJ is in the house! So sorry about the health news, but I hope you get great results on Wednesday. Sounds like the kids are doing great, as is Long Suffering. Congrats on your PB/PW at Boston, and on scoring Metallica tickets.

Sorry you missed your ride, Evanflein, but it seems you made the best of it. And, yes, where is Jlynne?

Isn’t that what we all do AFTER a doctor’s visit, Tramps? Good luck with the knee diagnosis.

    Great wildlife sightings, StarrRuns.

    Welcome back home, Mariposai.

I went 6 and a scootch RW miles in lots 'a tree drip from some very-recently-departed rains. My plan was to go farther (further?), but I started chafing and I knew it was only going to get worse, so I turned around a little early so I could live to walk another day. I very rarely have chafing issues, so I wonder what brought it on today? Maybe all the humidity from previously-referenced rains?

    Have a greta Saturday!

    Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

3.7 miles and finished up with a little beach running. It wasn't great because the sand was a little soft- even at the water's edge and there was a slope, but at least I did SOME beach running.

Out there running since dinosaurs roamed the earth

      C-R

Excellent recap as always Jay and nice workout. Also, I pitched your HM to our running club as a must do since there are several needing Maine for their 50 state quest.

Beach running is pretty cool KSA.

Well no fines from here. No rain just 42 degrees and wind. My 8k went well (a little over 35 minutes). Made me feel like I did and am doing my recovery properly. Kiddo ran last night in a big HS meet 3200. Ran 10:30 and was very unhappy (he was looking at 10:05. We discussed his training and race approach. I can't give much advice since I'm not a track person but I asked enough questions that I think he has a plan on how to race. He's plenty fit. What was nice is to see him work out the problem and look for a solution or new approach to test.

        Well off to band.

        Cheers.

MTA; Good to see you posting PBJ and saying some prayers for ya.

          Thanks jay.

No Earth Day runs this year here anymore as in past years that I liked so much so, after a week off running for being too busy, l guess l'll celebrate the 48th anniversary of the first Envonmental Teach-in one month before the first Earth Day by putting on my favorite fish hat for today's Earth Day March-for-Science.

Good luck PJB.  I think it'll be okay but just remember to rinse the shampoo out before getting out of the shower..

ps KSA - where are you this weekend?

                  Howdy folks!

I did a 5.462k race this morning.  My legs are still tired from the marathon on the 9th, and my LR yesterday didn't help, but it was a team event, so we got points just for me showing up, even though I knew I wouldn't be "racing" it.  Instead, I got a nice tempo run in, ran and chatted with my runner friend Renee, and saw several other local running friends too.  42 and windy for he race, just like C-R.

With WU and CD, about 4.5 miles total.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

                  Dave59

6.28 miles for me this morning before the rain arrived.

People are marching again this weekend, eh?    Just keep rolling that boulder up the hill and watch it come back down.

                    dg.

Thanks Jay, as always such a wonderful start.  Nice drippy 6 & a scootch...  hope the chafing goes away!

happy earth day!     yay Tet.     I planned to go the the MarchinAA, but decided against it ... kind of wish I had.   seems a good thing, to me, to make efforts in whatever directions could even conceivably lead to something positive.  Realizing we have to pick & choose.

I'm catching up here instead, & taking care of various owies, (pay attention.  take breaks.   ugh...)    including digging out my dandelions by hand.

Nice approach to helping the kiddo, C-R!

PBJ!!    So nice to see you here.     Glad for all the good news.... looking forward to more on Wednesday.   Will cross my fingers too, as soon as I'm done typing....

tw, way to celebrate.   - )

is there a statue of limitations for fines/sanctions?    All the talk about the wayback machine, & the way we were, led to my wondering, like Liz, when I started posting.   I'm not sure about that, but think I found my first log post, must have been on CR.   12/1/2006, just about 2 months after I started running at the tender age of 51.  32F.  COMMENTS: wind was 20-30 mph plus gusts, rain was horizontal. left at a little after 6 am. 2.5 miles Easy.        geez I've gotten wimpy.

Nancy, good luck on your race prep!    Holly, I'm impressed.    Marj, have fun with family....

                      back to do Everything.

                      Carolyn

Howdy masters!  I'm back home from my travels - I got in at 1 am yesterday.  I slept till 7, then got up and went for a 4 mile run in the land of no oxygen.  Felt okay, considering!  Then I drove 7  hours round trip to Laramie, Wyoming, to pick up my best fuzzy buddies from my sister.

So this morning, despite being jet-lagged and not used to the altitude, I ran a 5k race with the Colorado Masters Running Association.  Fun to see some friends, and I was 2nd in my AG.  It's an inspiring group - there are quite a few runners in their 60s, 70s and even a few in their 80s!

RunnerKSA - I'm with you on the beach running - it's always cool to do when you get a chance, particularly if you don't live near an ocean, even if it's soft and sloped.  I did a bit of beach running in Italy, just because I could.

Norm, nice approach to help your DS,  giving him feedback and let him work it out for himself.

Holly, nice racing for you and Renee.  What an odd distance!

DG - hi!  Have fun doing everything!

                        Happy earth day to all.

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

                        Tramps

Welcome back, Wildchild!  And nice jet-lagged racing, too!

Great to see folks out in defense of science, raising awareness and prompting discussions. I know this was a big deal on our campus, with lots of engineering, medical, and environmental science students. There was mini-conference yesterday and buses going up to DC today. By themselves, efforts like this never make a difference, of course.  It's all about the cumulative, collective impact of such efforts.  As the man said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men should do nothing.”

Speaking of doing nothing...it was pouring rain this morning and I just wasn't feeling it, so I bagged my run to read about arthritis.   I see lots of core work and stretching in my future. And maybe TriBee will finally get me to buy myself a bike.

Speaking of TriBee...I'm on my knees, scrubbing the shower stall this morning and it occurs to me!!

                          Tramps: Hey TriBee!

                          Tribee: What?

Tramps: I really shouldn't be doing this anymore

                          Tribee: Why not?

Tramps: I have arthritis, you know.

                          Tribee: [silence]

Well, it was worth a shot.

                          Be safe. Be kind.

...I'm on my knees, scrubbing the shower stall this morning and it occurs to me!!

Wait - this really happens?  A HUSBAND scrubbing a shower stall?  Wonders never cease!

Heading out in a few with DH to join 3 other couples for the Cincinnati Dinner Train  - a 3 hour train ride with a 4-course dinner.   Should be fun, and something we have not done before.

                              Hello everybody!

                              Welcome back wild!

Oh, Tramps--you should know there are no itises that can get you out of doing your chores...but good for you for trying.

After taking 4 days off to try to get my Achilles under control, I went out for my last 16 miler before the marathon.  I had no choice--pain or no pain--this was it--I had to go.  The 3 hour goal plan calls for a 7:29 pace.  The 2:55 goal plan calls for a 7:17 pace.  I usually go for the 7:17 pace because I usually feel pretty comfortable doing it at that pace and it's good for my confidence.  Of course, this 16 miler is supposed to be done on tired legs...and I just took 4 days off.  So, what do I do?  I go out at a 6:55 pace.  I kept telling myself to slow down, but I just kept going.  Finally, I just gave up and figured I'd just enjoy the run...which I did...for 13 miles.  Oh man, that pace caught up to me in a hurry and I struggled over the last 3 miles.  I finished in 1:52:37--which is a 7:02 pace. But, now, I hurt...well of course, I hurt!  What did I expect?  Why am I such an idiot?

Okay--that's it.  I have to go, now because, no matter how much I complain about my itis...as in Achilles' tendonitis...Debbie won't let me out of my chores, either.  See ya!

Hey, wildchild -- how long were you gone on your trip? How about a general sum-up of your itinerary? Seems like you've been posting pics on FB for months now!

I've had a hard time getting any running in this week due to a mismatch of weather and seasonal chores that need doing, plus extra time such as waiting for a plumber, picking up my DS after he dropped his car off for service early today, etc. So I went for a 4-mile run in the early afternoon, which is really unheard of for me. But my next chance for a regular run is Monday morning, so...

I was also thinking about joining a March for Science either in AA (but heard that dg9 would not be attending) or in downtown Detroit. But as I said above, just too much to get done today!

I hope that someone out there managed to get a good Saturday run in the books!
