I'll be following this also. We'll need to buy David a laptop to take to college. He's not a gamer so won't be using it for that - but need something good for him. and I've never had a laptop so am clueless.

Be sure to check the school's tech store.  Most universities have deep discounts for students on a limited range of laptops. Oten, the deals can't be beat.

Holly - We have a desktop, as well, that I use for The Hub's business and my transcription.  The Hub uses the laptop and it travels with us.  We have an old iPad, but being the non-tech person The Hub is . . .   He's better of with a laptop.
