    Mornin' everyone.

    Wednesday’s wondrous workouts:

RunnerKSA (3.1 cool & sunny miles on better-feeling legs)

Tramps (EZ [really] 6 miles at 8:55 pace)

    Stumpy (Late-starting 3.1 miles)

Marj (6 miles along the Charles, feeling good on a beautiful morning)

    Holly (4 morning TM miles)

    BerthaSlayer (8.6 miles, including 6 X 1 repeats at remarkably-consistent pace)

Tomwhite (60 min hike on CityPark trails with 2 lb boots, with temps in the 70s)

Mike (12 miles, with 9 at tempo in a drizzle [more than a muzzle])

Catwhoorg (5+ miles at lunch, 16 miles on the bike after work)

    CMDan (3.75 miles)

Evanflein (8.3 miles with hillage and windage in sunny temps in the mid-upper 40s)

RunnerKSA, I have a feeling you won’t be close to terrible in the 15K corporate challenge. Interesting discussions about the strategies of corporate challenges, in regard to team makeup, and whether or not to BTB (beat the boss).

91° is pretty dang hot, Tramps. Good luck with reintroducing yourself to the wisdom of good training, including the value of truly easy days.

Happy upcoming Birthday to DW, Stumpy. What/where are these microbreweries and restaurants you are going to? Sounds like it is going to be a great weekend in Maine.

Marj, Spring is getting closer, but I don’t know that we can say that it is here to stay yet.

Looks like a gorgeous park, Tomwhite. Have fun with CB. I agree with Holly; take a canteen - or a flask…

Congrats to David on winning the tiebreaker, Tammy. I hope things went well at the school meeting. I’m not the guy to ask about prepping for your upcoming race, but good luck with whatever you decide.

BerthaSlayer, nice job on the intervals pacing! Whenever I see “VO” as in VO2, I think of veggie omelet.

Right, Tet - I’d also call roof-banging rain rather ‘robust.’

Fatozzig, it sounds like that pain center doc is causing (“Well, there’s your problem&rdquoWink, not resolving the pain. I’m glad you’ve got a good NP, and that you are going to see another (better?) pain doc. Take it easy on the attorney - it isn’t worth the jail time, no matter how good it might feel.

Interesting observations about GPS thingies, Twocat. If I wear the right watch, will I be able to fly through the air and tunnel underground? That’s be cool. However, I don’t think I want a watch like that one of Wildchild’s.

I had a route in mind when I left the house this morning, but kept thinking about changing it up as I went along. In the end, I stuck with the original plan, which is probably usually the best plan. So 7.6 RW miles in 43° temps, and under a nice and bright fool moon.

I have my annual physical this morning with my new doc, so it'l be interesting to see if he determines whether or not I'm still breathing and if I have a heartbeat.

    Have a greta Thursday!

Knee is a little sore so I am moving my rest day from Friday to today. The squats and lateral band exercises have been helping, but maybe I am doing too much, too soon.

I am down from 169.9 pounds to 162.6 pounds this month. Losing the extra weight much quicker than I thought I would.

      Personal Bests:

      800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

3.1 this morning as I rest a little into the race.

        Nice weight loss, Dan!

As far as beating the boss-  I'm way too competitive to ever let someone win.  Smile

        Trails are hard!

Jay--it's Gneiss brewery and the dinner is at Krista's in Cornish.  Have to buy the tickets today.  The brewery is in Limerick and i think you can find it in a few places around Portsmouth.  Obsius is my new favorite--a wheat based stout that I think tastes better than that famous Irish one.

Just under 4 miles this morning with improved pace once again.  Makes me feel a LITTLE bit better that there's still a faint chance of hitting my goal time in a month.

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.

Good morning. Thankfully it is recovery miles day (read...today I don't give a darn about the pace), 5 miles because I am feeling very blah. Hubby had a seizure last night and this always makes me sad and feel bad for him and so I get quite moody. On a brighter note, today is Thursday and a pseudo-Friday because of the holiday tomorrow. So does that mean that I can say TGIPF?

HOpe everyone has a good day.

There's a holiday tomorrow?  I mean, one that people actually get the day off work for?  So jealous......

              {{{BerthaSlayer's DH}}}

As usual, I am super stressed and overwhelmed at work.  This has been getting old for a long time (and I'm sure you all are tired of hearing me whine about it.  Shoot, I'm tired of hearing myself.)  The boss needs to hire someone to help me, but just doesn't seem to get around to it.  I am determined NOT to work a bunch of extra hours every week to try to keep up, since I don't get paid extra to do so, and DH says, "Don't you give up our family time when you're not getting paid to do it!"  And besides, if I began working 50-60 hours a week, I would STILL never be caught up - we would just be taking on more cases.  When I tried to tell the boss Monday that I am drowning, all he could do was tell me how HE worked Saturday and Sunday.  Yeah, well, if I made $800,000/year and owned the business, maybe I would too.  (I don't actually know how much he makes, but it is a lot.)

Lacrosse games for DD tonight.  They now have her playing the JV game, and then about half of the varsity game, so game nights go a bit long, but they are fun to watch.

5 miles for me this morning on the TM.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Holly have you approached him for a raise?

My 5 miles went well. Cool drizzly weather. Just how I like it.

                  Morning all.

13 miles around the lake this morning. Nothing yesterday, not even a swim.

Nice.  I tend to be more like...

                    Holly--You need a union.

We don't have cable where we live, so I finally signed up for Sling TV to stream the hockey playoffs. (It's now or never for the Caps.) Kid in a candy store. See you in June.

10 on the trail this morning.

                    Be safe. Be kind.

Since we have some new people here, could we reintroduce ourselves and tell where we're from?

Fatozzig here (aka Leslie) and I hail from Northern CA in Eureka, about 6 hrs north of San Francisco.  (PS, we're the TRUE NorCal, in case there ever was any doubt).

Holly - If you keep working extra hours for no compensation, your boss has no incentive to hire extra help.  Why would he when you're working for free? (And that's not meant to sound snide.)  You were hired to work X-number of hours.  You have no obligation to the job beyond that, except you're like most of us and are willing to do extra.  But that extra should be acknowledged and compensated.

Jay - Let us know if you're determined to still be alive.

Yesterday when I saw my NP, her assistant was looking at my chart and said, "The last time you were here, you only weighed 14 pounds.  You've gained some weight!"  And Holly, good idea to let my NP's sups know what great  job she's doing.  The Hub even likes her and he normally couldn't care less about medical professionals.

Did about 30 min of core and upper ST this morning and some hammy ST with some EZ stretching.  We'll see how things go the rest of the day.

It occurred to me this morning that I haven't broken a sweat (except for night sweats, and those don't count) in almost 3 months.

Today would've been my dad's 76th birthday.  He's been gone a year and a half.  I sure do miss that guy.

Holly doesn't need a union, she needs a DOL audit. There's no way a paralegal should be on an exempt salary basis. She should be hourly and eligible for overtime. You can go to the Dept. of Labor anonymously and request an audit, you know. Nothing will change until that level of activity happens.

CallMeDan, I usually have Tramps' experience with the weight. In fact, I think I've found some of those missing pounds of yours. You can have them back though, really.

Re-introductions? Didn't we do that already? Hi I'm evanflein, Erika IRL, and I think since Troy and Trackrat aren't around anymore, I'm the only Alaskan in the group. I usually spend about 6 months of the year extolling the beauty and IRC (Ideal Running Conditions) of where I live, about 3 months of the year tolerating it and the other 3 months complaining about it. We're currently beginning the 6 month stage...

Lori, do you really get Good Friday off from work? I've never worked where religious holidays were observed. And no, Christmas doesn't count as that's gotten to be dreadfully commercial and secular. Hope the Hub is ok.

Leslie, my mom (former ANP) always said for every doctor in the world, we need five good nurses as they're the ones who really provide the care most people need. GL with your search for relief. And no, night sweats don't count (kinda wish they did sometimes).

Tramps, I really need to work on pacing too. I'll go out for an "easy" run, find the first few miles faster than planned and say ok, what the heck, it's a GA run day! Or even (gasp) a tempo or LT day... I'm really bad that way and always have been. But today, I will do better! After that 8+ mile hilly run yesterday, my legs are saying easy is in order. I'll let you know how it goes.

And hey, check out the race report thread! Starr posted about her Chilly Cheeks 10 miler, and Happy Feat (Amy) dropped by, too!

                          TammyinGP

I don't get religious holidays off either, but then I work on a federal/court calendar so we sometimes get odd things off that regular businesses don't - like Presidents Day or MLK Day.  I may on occasion put in more than my 40 hr per week salary wage accounts for, but then there plenty of other times my workload is lighter, so I leave early to go for a run, or I screw around on interwebs, so it all evens out for me.

Once you start letting an employer take advantage of your time, it becomes more difficult to dig your heels in or back up to how it should be but I think you have proven yourself time and again how valuable of an asset you are to your company, Holly, so it's up to you if you are going to put a halt to it and say no more. I don't think dismissal is anything to worry about it because it's not like they could find one person to do all you seem to do for them and be as efficient.

I really need to run today after work. Haven't run for 3 days now because i've just been too busy every day after work.

re-intro? I must have missed where someone said we should do that. Was that in yesterdays thread?

Anyways, I hail from So. Oregon, 50, running 10 yrs now, but last few yrs have been pretty sparse. I think I already am close to my mileage total that I had in all of 2016. Hoping that having a race each month I commit to will keep me better focused and motivated to not be a slacker and eat cheetos.

eta: a bit more about me. just because. I work in criminal defense law - legal research/writing, CLE coordinator. married, one child 17 yr junior. current tennis player because he got burned out on running even though he was pretty much the fastest distance runner. but he seems to excel at whatever he puts his mind to and is rocking it on the tennis court also and having lots of fun. rescue animal advocate, president of non profit (animal related), 3 black labs, enjoy trail running the most even though I seem to end up doing more road running when I need to get in distance.

I'm Karen from the Nashville area.  I've been running for about 40 years.  Been here on RA since 2009- mainly in the Swamp and the women's "secret" forum called the LLR, but I pissed off the Queen of that group and got banned.  I have 2 runner/triathlete grown kids (one is on RA- kmays- and 2 old Golden Retrievers and 4 cats.   I'm a senior lawyer/VP for a large retail company and I love my job.
