Average pace doesn't really tell the whole story. I meant to get up at 6:30 to get there by 7 to run with the people going long but couldn't get out of bed. I ended up in bed until 7:10 at which point I got confused and thought I had to get to the store by 7:30 (instead of my actual usual time of 7:45). So I rushed and got to the store around 7:35 and ended up running with the people who start 10 minutes early because they go at ~8:45/mile. So the first lap was 43:55 and then I ran with Gary and Luis and a couple other people on the second lap in 35:55.
