Notes

Well, that 1-mile time trial was a bit of a disaster.

I wasn't sure what speed to run it at so I decided to just take off and I settled in at a 7:00/mile pace. About a 1/4 mile in, I couldn't run anymore. My legs were burning and my breathing was really heavy. I had to stop. I then tried running easy the rest of the way, but even that was a challenge as my legs were tired.

The only good news is that for the last 1/2 mile of the run, I decided to pick up the pace just a bit and I ran that at an average of 10:00/mile. My legs weren't burning and my breathing wasn't too heavy. I could have carried on a "halting" conversation. I'm also sure I could have held that pace for a mile (or longer). The next time I try a 1-mile time trial, that is the pace I would start at (or just a bit faster) and then pick it up in the 2nd half of the mile if feeling good.

Not sure where we go from here. I have no problems running easy, but it seems any kind of speed work is going to be a challenge
