Notes

Did an out and back on miles 17 - 20 of the marathon before the race made its way here. It was really cool to be on the course. Ran by some other people going for their run and also everyone on the side of the road, water stops, etc. Newton was definitely hopping. Got a little carried away with the pace but I felt pretty good, and I was pretty excited to be at the marathon too. I made it back at the perfect time, about 5 minutes before the first hand cyclist came through (as in, the first person competing in the race to pass). Perfect spectating position. You could see everything and the road there was nice and wide. We were right on the corner and on the outside, so you could see the runners coming down the street and rounding the corner onto Commonwealth. Saw the hand cyclists and wheelchairs. then after a while we saw the women's elite squad which was sick. Then after a little while longer I saw the men's elite come through, so cool! Then more and more people started coming through. Saw some people I recognized from other NE running clubs. I was looking for all the RPI guys who qualified but I only saw Jarrett come through. Must have missed everyone else in the packs, even though I thought I scanned everyone. Missed Brandyn Naro too. Just too many people to sort through I guess. It was my first time spectating Boston and it was really fun. Corner of Washington and Commonwealth, at the Newton Fire Station - go there for some good views.
