Wow, Garmin was WAY off early in the run, as it measured 2.55 miles for the first 2 miles that I ran (totals adjusted to reflect correct distances). First 4 at an easier pace, with last 4 at goal marathon pace. Used Current Lap function on watch to see if I can properly pace myself without relying on Current Lap Pace function. Ran the last 4 in 27:27 (6:52 pace), so it looks like I did a pretty good job with it.
