Coming out the Y today, not thinking about much, I see a woman with her child and sort do this spin kind of thing to hold the door for them like I do a lot. I notice that the woman is speaking to her kid who is about 5. She was super attentive to him. Like he was her entire world. I then notice that he is a special needs child, huge smile on his face, and is pumped to be going into the Y. Then another woman, pushing her teenaged son in a wheel chair....also special needs. This kid was also all smiles and his mom was the same way. Then I see a bus with people piling out of it. It made me pause for second to think about these parents. They seem to not take their kids for granted the way many of us do. I know I enjoy the hell out of my kids most days but it was pretty cool to watch. Respect and perspective.
