Sugarloaf Marathon - 5.15.11. Rainy and cold. My goal was to run it in 4:30. Feeling great thru the first 13 and on track at 2:15 which felt really slow. After the long 6 mi downhill my right knee got very cranky at mile 16 and I basically had to walk and run the last 10.2 which killed my time. Probably drank too much water and gatorade thoughout the race and had to pee several times and used gummy bears to fuel which were great. It was the knee that was the issue.

Training retrospect 1 yr later - clearly not enough mileage, but the point was to get to the starting line healthy. I would have been better prepared if I had the chance to do the planned miles but my an ankle injury in the first week of April killed my miles that lead up to the taper. The most miles I did in a week was 33 through the whole thing. in training plans for the Maine Marathon I've already logged almost a month and a half of 30+ mile weeks with a few 40 milers. Looking to peak in the mid 50s or so. Also ran a 15 miler this week (6.9.12) with more than 3 months to go. Most miles have been slow but have also added weekly speed work with either a tempo, strides, or intervals.
