Notes
Ended up hooking up with Doug so I decided to take my Asics to York Beach. Out of the gate he’s running faster than I want for my 3up, 10 at 8, 3 down but it feels easy. During the last “warm up” mile I look down and I’m basically running 8s already so figure i would just go with it. We were running the 4 on the 4th loop and pretty much just chatting it up. I was trying to employ my Cremer/L Train running with Doug strategy but he always seem like he was ahead of me by at least 10 feet. 2 Pretty uneventful laps and then we stop for water and i had a couple of those little gel shot things a little bit after the 8 mile mark. After our stop it took me a while to get going and Doug is now ahead by 20+ ft. After about .5 of this I push and catch up to him, and figure “fuck it. I’m leading for a while”. I’m feeling really good and get into a major groove. Borderline floaty and I know I moving pretty good and putting some distance on Doug. I look at down about .5 into the mile 9th and I’m at 6:53 and it feels great. I pull back over the next 2 a little bit but still feeling good. Somehow, I missed the street where Doug put the water and run another .5 before turning around. Doug and I head back together to get one round of water before finishing up. For the next 2 miles I try to pull back quite a bit and Doug’s now 30+ feet in front of me. This time we turn around with 1.25 to go, and I tell myself that I’m going to run with him the rest of the way. On my 16th mile, what’s suppose to be a warm down, I’m running sub 7:30s but it’s all good and we cruise in. This is exactly why I knew I had to run with Doug today because he was going to push me. Awesome run this morning and so glad Doug was there to push to me. Not to mention I got to meet a bunch of fellow peeps from the Motherland. * On an unrelated note: The Sanford 10 yr old All Star Game is in Sanford at 2:30 @ LL Park, and the 2nd baseman is chomping at the bit for it to start.
