Notes

Felt good this morning, and plenty of rest, no niggles, and generally ready to go. I didn't even listen to the radio on the way over just kind of vegged out and had a nice quiet ride to Portland. Parked, hit the park, and bumped into Kim. She pointed me in the direction of Cremer in the parking lot. He wasn't doing great and his hammy had been barking at him all morning. Went ran an easy 2 mile warm up and he told me I was on my own because the hammy wasn't doing well. Gun, or whatever it was goes off, and my watch had just went into hibernation mode. I start it, but know I am off by a few seconds but no big deal. The first mile is fast and downhill and very easy but I'm shocked at that the fact that it's not crowded at all. The crowd is in behind me, and it seems like people lined up appropriately (I was in the under 7 pace group just behind the under 6 pace group). Mile 1 feeling ok and the clock says 6:31 or so. Feeling ok but not great and immediately notice that my pace jumped up to 6:51 or so. Not good. Try to get it back down but going up this little hill isn't helping. Down the hill before mile 2 and game some time but 6:44 is not going to get me sub 20. From here on out i know a PR is way out of reach and try to go for sub 20:30. That's not really happening either. Go around the corner and onto the ball field and try to finish without being passed. Didn't feel great at the end but I just didn't have it today. I should be more disappointed than I am but I realize I can't run PRs every race. This is the first time in a while I just didn't enjoy the entire experience. It was ok, but I supposed if I killed it would have been the best race day ever. Home, church, and the 3rd Alarm Dinner with the fam which was awesome. Happy Father's Day everyone.

Next time, that is a nice finish for that field. I need music before the race, loud is better. Maybe the 50 mile week did not help you out for a 5k pr.

Egad

Next time buddy. You would've been stoked with this result a year ago so take heart in all the progress you've made.

You have been putting in some impressive long successive runs. I agree with Ali, you should be happy with it. Best of all, you made it back in time for church and brunch with the family. Nice work all around.
