Notes

I've been given the official word that if I don't back off with the running I will not get healthy. The good news is that I can still run, albeit a modify schedule. The focus has to be on getting my body tall, my feet over my nose, and try to resolve this weird thing I've got going that kicks my right hip out. The belief is that this is causing the numbness in my foot. My PT, Jarred, is an IM guy (11:00 flat to be precise...I asked), and thinks he can straighten the issue out quickly with stretching, balance exercise, lots of rolling with the stick and foam roller, etc. He also thinks I can maintain my fitness by doing other things like biking and swimming while I focus on shorter intervals to work on my form. He was working on the right leg yesterday and that sucker is tight. It definitely hurt but the goal is to work out the compressed nerve.

Today's work out prescribed by Jarred was follows: Run for 3 mins, walk for 1 x 5. I started off a 8:34 pace for intv (1), 8:20 (2), 8:00 (3), 7:47 (4), and 7:30 (5). The focus was on form, being tall, nose over toes, etc. Obviously, this is a lot less work, easier on the body because of the TM, and because of the lighter workout I feel pretty good. No aches or pains.

Re reading this is full of irony. Running tall? Pfft. Commentary about my nose? Double pfft. Jared being right? Hey buddy - when your try to rub out the area in my foot that you think is a nerve impingement when it's a cyst.....guess what? That really fucking hurt for like 6 weeks. When I told Jared I finally knew what it was like for the terrorists at Guantanamo Bay...he didn't think that was funny. But who's laughing now MFer.

Your mistake letting him rub out.
