Notes

I was hoping to get out for at least 10 today but when Connor started throwing up at 7am it wasn’t looking good. The kid is resilient though and bounced back so I had a signed permission slip after Cinderella did her chores. I wasn’t sure how long I would last in the Vibrams and thought this could be somewhere between 3-6 before a mandatory tire change. Headed out of the yard toward the powerlines and headed out west to Springvale. 7 minutes in I go down as the rocks, roots, and other trail dangers swallowed me up. No issues so I keep going. Hit rte 11, and on the road a bit before cutting back on the trails on the backside of John Deere. Through the muck and wet to the soccer field at Shaw’s Ridge and made a loop around. Back on to the trail and cross the street. Mud and water. Get through, weave up and around and I am on the back side of the Railroad tracks by Gebung. Across the street, by the Lax field, thru some condos, cross Main, and back on the trail past Oak Street. I start to pick up the pace little. Hit 5 miles and turn around. Much better pace on the way back and I realize this is the most I’ve run with the Vibrams by a lot. Really concentrating on running on the front part of my foot and doing pretty well. From time to time the reality of rocks and hard roots hurt but it was really cool. Mostly quiet back there and a great day with no electronic distractions. On the way back the pace is better but around 7.5 the legs get tired. No issues with the feet or calves or anything though. Retrace my steps back home and within 1/10 of mile where I wiped out on the way out I go down again. If I was running a little faster it would have knocked the wind out of me. Some scratches and a bleeding finger but no uterus issues. 20 steps later I almost go down again. I’m definitely getting tired now. Make it back safely and really loving the trails, the Vibrams, and the time alone. Later in the day the calves feel worked and the feet hurt a little but no real pain. Just sore from the workout and stay in the Vibrams for the entire thing.

L Train

Mixing vibrams, trails and ten miles complete with 2 faceplants = perfect dumbassery.

Scorps

I was drunk on then notion of getting out for 2 hours by myself and apparently wasn't thinking clearly. Or I was just plain old drunk.

A Double Bag of Dumbassery, as it were.
