Notes

Aimed to do 2 easy, 10x400 in 1:22 (5:28/mile pace = VDOT 54) with 400 jog and full recovery, then 1 easy. But only managed 8x400, and then didn't have time to get all 8 miles in as an extended cool down (largely because I was locked into the track area and couldn't figure out how to get out. I ultimately climbed a high fence). This wasn't a great workout. The 400's were harder than I expected, maybe because before I only ran 5 of them and had more time in between (doing 200's, which are much easier). I couldn't seem to get the pace right: I kept either starting too fast and then coasting the second half, or starting too slowly and then struggling to get up to my goal pace in the second half. This may have had to do with its being pretty windy, but I think it was also because I did some 200's before and am not used to running 400's. Anyway, I need to try this workout again. I was clearly very tired by the 6th or 7th 400 and couldn't do much with the 8th, but afterwards I wasn't terribly spent. Maybe I'm just getting used to speed workouts in general?
