When the alarm went off this AM at 5:30, I promptly shut it off and rolled over again without even batting an eyelash. It was one of those mornings. Instead I opted to run at lunchtime from work. I've missed running my favorite trails and wanted to do those, but being hunting season figured that wasn't the wisest choice. Drove to Indian Island SP and ran the trails there instead, a nice compromise. Nice day. Overcast, cold, not a breath of wind, 45*. The only sound while running was my breathing, the air moving past my ears, and the crunch of leaves under my feet. The water was dead calm and reflected everything like a mirror. A swan swam offshore, leaving behind it's path in the undisturbed water that you could see for 100's of yards. Where was it's mate?

The run went well, no issues, just ran at what felt like a comfortable pace. Just putting in miles for now. Did 5x 20/40 seconds on/off strides at the end. The only people I came across was a couple out walking and enjoying the autumn weather, and another runner, which is a rare sight. Otherwise I had the place to myself, which is just what I needed.

I was lazy and didn't change before jumping back in the car and heading back to work. As a result I got pretty chilly. But what did I find in the kitchen at work when I got back? A big pot of the best freshly made chicken soup, the perfect way to end a chilly run.
