Notes

5k for Bradley.

I was basically shooting to use this as a workout (tempo the first two miles and maybe get quicker near the end). I ran mostly with Jack and Reich. We were really consistent through two miles and then I lost them a little in the last mile when I dropped pace. My watch was all fucked up by the trails (and the fact I forgot to get satellites at first), so I am basing these splits off the ones I had and how they stacked up equivalence-wise to the splits Jack had, as well as my total finishing time on the clock. My watch splits were slower than this, but were definitely incorrect because they added up to like 23 seconds slower than what I hit. Both sets of splits reveal a really nice, consistent effort through two miles and a solid drop over the last 1.1, though, which was exactly what I wanted! I was within a minute of the winner off a workout, so that was a little reassuring.

Overall I felt really relaxed and good for the first two miles or so (we were talking and joking around, to give you an idea). I really started to feel it in the last mile, though. Part of that likely came from the drop in pace -- I haven't run that fast in a while -- and the other part probably just came from the humid weather catching up with me. The course was a nice mix of trails and roads (the last mile was actually pretty grassy).

All in all this was a solid effort for a good cause. I miss you, Brad!
