Notes
Finally a good race at Mt. Toby! 3rd time was the charm. Felt steady and strong throughout, though I had not run 14 miles since early June. I began conservative with the thought that I'd like to have a great 2nd half of the race, not so important to push every opportunity on the approach to the summit. This left me enough energy for a decent climb and a fairly aggresive downhill. The last 4 miles of rolling forest roads is always the toughest for me, but I held on very well. No side-stiches, cramps, or mental washouts. Very low turnout, only about 70 people but I wasn't alone at any point in the race. Staying with a little pack definitely helped with pacing.
