Nye rode his bike while I ran, awesome way to spend the afternoon. This is the type of workout I needed, nice flat steady pace. Bought a new watch, Ironman with laptimes. Miles 1-3 25:32 / 8:31, 3-7 34:32 / 8:38, 7-10 27:17 / 9:06, 10-14 35:19 / 8:48, 14-17 25:24 / 8:28. Last three were a hair faster than the first, with a slight downhill advantage. But 3-7 were much faster than 10-14 despite being uphill. Fatigue did set in and the downhill wore on my legs. That middle 9 minute mile included a water stop, where Nye helped me refill my bottle from a stashed jug of water. My left achilles was pretty sore toward the end. A sore right arch bothered me a little at beginning and middle, but I can adjust my stride to alleviate this. My whole core alignment is being retooled by FedEx right now. Just hope my feet can keep up, in my crappy workboots. The arch thing could be a problem though and needs some ice. Minimal sleep is the culprit I believe, but the injury is no less real, right? Well, I ran 17 miles on it anyway. Rest now for the marathon Friday! Nye had such a great time, this is definitely a strategy to repeat.
