Notes

Woke up at 4:30, jogged 10 minutes super slow then headed up to the race. I warmed up 2 miles about 45 minutes before the race.

Garbage race. I never really got my head into the race, which was disappointing. I can thinking of a 100 excuses or at least reasons that would have affected my performance, but I'd rather think of ways to change things moving forward. I definitely want to commit to sleeping more. I've been able to nap a bunch, but I think having a full and regular sleep schedule is more important. Probably most of the other issues stem from that.

During the race, the first mile felt relaxed and not bad. The second felt like I was already stretching myself and also like there was no adrenaline, no fight. I was just kind of out there running. It was pretty weird actually to feel so removed from the actual race. I didn't really move up or down for most of the race. Around mile 6 though I did get passed by a couple of guys. I decided to stick with them, which lasted about 3 miles, but I just couldn't stay with it. So frustrating. I think the only two things that kept me from totally falling apart were a) wanting to pass Andrew Riggins who had been about 10-20 seconds ahead of me the whole race and b) the fear of getting passed by Tara Welling. I think I actually did try and push it from miles 10-12.

The jumbled-ness of this race report I think is indicative of the mess that my race was.
