Notes

Our meet today was at UW-Parkside which is the course that holds the mid-western region's Footlocker course. I was pretty excited for today because we had had a good overnight at the Cobert's with some quality team bonding. Got a decent amount of sleep last night. I kept going in and out of consciousness because I slept on an air mattress that lost its air, but I went to bed at 11, so that worked out.

I really liked the course today - it brought back memories of running at Minnesota for Regionals freshman year. At the start of the race, I made the decision to commit to running with Henry instead of with my group. We started with Kibler and Jaden, but moved up after the first K. We started literally in last place, but that's not really intimidating anymore because we worked our way up well. The whole race we were passing people one by one. I ran pretty evenly throughout. At 5k, I felt a little tired because we had to go back up the huge hill, but it really was not bad and we also picked up Mitch on the hill. The three of us ran together until 6k where Henry started putting in a surge and Mitch and I stood pat. Nobody passed us the entire race, so it was much better than Augustana where the entire field passed me. Had a pretty decent kick, but Mitch held me off, which I'm kicking myself for because I totally could have beaten him. I'll get him next time.

I'm a lot happier with today's performance. I was really upset with myself after Augustana and it was definitely a kick in the behind to get going again and take the rest of the season seriously. This was so much better than Augustana and probably the best pack-running I've ever done. We have three weeks of training until Regionals, so I'm looking forward to some more consistency and then hopefully running better at the Arb than I have before. That would be nice. I'm excited to be excited about running again.
