Michigan Set

Goal: 1 mi at 8:00 pace (10k pace?), 2 x 1k @VO2Max (7:45 pace?), 1/2 mi at tempo pace in between (8:06 pace?).

Actual: 1mi @7:56 pace, 1k @7:43 pace, 1k@7:39 pace; 3 x 1/2 mi (8:04, 8:04, 7:43 pace). Overall = 7:51 pace.

Beginning 2nd workout cycle. Did this same workout 3 weeks ago and fortunately improved on that (abt 4-5 sec/mi on the 1 mile & the tempo 1/2's and about 5-8 sec/mi on the VO2Max segments). Thought I could go faster on the 1 mile but tried to drop the pace after the first 3/10ths of a mile and then had to go back and forth. Felt the same on the 1st tempo segment as I felt running it at 8 min pace would take too much out of me (very depressing). On the 1k I pushed the pace more vs. 3 wks ago and felt stronger. On the 2nd 1k pushed it even more still had more in the tank. On the final 1/2 mi at tempo had to run this outside in the tropical conditions -- compared to 3 wks ago this felt much easier vs. 3 weeks ago where today I ran this 10 sec/mi faster (I actually controlled the pace).
