Notes

Long - Progressive [7:58 pace p mi adj for heat]

First 4 mi: 8:29/8:14a; last 5.75mi: 8:03/7:48a (last 2.75mi: 7:52/7:37a)

72 deg / 68% H / 61 dew pt. I could feel it was humid out and the air was thicker, was sweating some and by mile 7 shorts were soaked, but it did not cause me to redline (get too hot) and in fact my body could deal w/it and go stronger as the run went on. Started out at comfortable pace as after the first mile its a climb to mile 6 (w/some steep climbs and many gradual climbs). Over first 10 minutes sharp in left peroneal area, then right front tibia (as if I had shin splints), then left peroneal again all during downhills (enough to where I considered stopping) -- and never felt any of that again. Felt good through mile 5 (the steep climb up Providence after hanging a left off Fairview), then felt "fatigued" during mile 6 (same split as mile 5?), then hung left on Sharon Amity and felt better & picked up pace a tad, and then left on Sharon and picked up pace more so in mile 8 as I felt strong (spied the split) and then slowed things down into what I thought was a "jog" (felt like 8:20 pace vs 8:00) and the final 3/4 of mile felt like mile 9? Noticed that what is making a difference is the foot strengthening work I started to do again 3-4 weeks ago -- my legs are not getting as fatigued when I normally expand my long runs (usually I feel like I "hit the wall" when I hit the mileage fr the prior week and it then feels like a Burma death march), but I'm feeling much stronger because I'm using my feet much more in my stride.
