Fast Interval Set
Goal: 2 x 500m @6:58 pace; 3 x 1/4 mi@6:58 pace, 5 x 300m@6:40 pace.
Actual: 2x500m@6:55 pace; 3 x 1/4 mi@6:53 pace; 6 x 300m@6:19 pace.
Part 3 of the workout. Added one more repeat for 6 and wore Newtons on the last two. Ran these in the parking lot at HarrisY. Ran this set much faster (and longer) vs. 3 wks ago where I ran everything at 6:58 pace including the 3x300m at the end where I was really struggling (today I'm almost 30 sec p mi faster?)I descended #1 thru #5 but corresponding interval felt slower vs the prior? The last 50-60 meters of each was a real struggle. I did not notice any difference between #1 thru #4 other than my watch was showing a faster pace. I purposely tried to run the final 50m faster on #5. And decided to run a #6 where I purposely ran the first 1/2 slower (under control) vs. the prior two and then tried to pick up at the end -- however, I had nothing -- this felt like my slowest yet was only marginally slower vs. #4 and #5. Ran this much faster vs. 3 weeks ago so perhaps I'm getting fitter? Accurate splits below:
