10k Set

Goal: 3 x 1.33mi@ (unknown pace, had no clue how I would do).

Actual: 1.33mi@8:10 pace; 1.33mi @8:11 pace; 1.5mi @8:11 pace = 4.16mi @8:11 pace

Could not do these outside given the heat (76) & humidity (69 dew pt) so ran on treadmill. Had no idea how I would do but there is this huge gap between my VO2Max (7:40 ish) & 10k (both are depressing but the latter is even more depressing). Ran #1 conservative (1st mi at 8:13 pace then pushed pace faster over final 1/3 of a mi). Then the depressing part factored in as on #2 I started at 8:13 pace and after a 1/10th of a mi pushed the pace (with plans to push even faster) but after 2/10th's of a mi at 8:06 pace I could feel myself getting "drained" and realized there is no way I could finish this segment unless I backed off. And then this was a "grind" where I had to "will myself" on. On #3 changed shoes to my Newtons and wanted to salvage the set by extending to 1.5mi. Started out & had no confidence in pushing pace faster than 8:13 & at 1.2 mi began to push pace to end. Overall this is extremely disappointing & can't believe I'm this slow.
