Notes

4 x Hill Sprints up Cameron Valley (3 x drills)

It was a difficult transition to run these after a 6 mi Burma death march at an abysmally plodding pace. I thought about how in the past I would run 6-6.5 mi and then run these and would feel energy & strength of which I had neither today. I've run strides but have not run hill sprints in 4+ months so I thought these would not be a disaster. I was very concerned about pain from my right hamstring (HHT) injury & did not want to tweak it so was careful about accelerating too fast. The first two were complete disasters -- on #1 it was as if I had no speed or strength and was dragging a 45 lb plate behind me (I looked at the split & said "I ran 300m up a hill on #5 of 5 last Mon faster & this was a 12 sec effort??). #2 was worse - it was like all of strength & energy was sapped, could not get out of my way & felt like was dragging two 45 lb plates (I looked at the split 3x to make sure it really read 8+ min pace for a "sprint" & feared things could not get worse). On the last two I resigned myself to "sprint" and concentrate on my form & the impact was "radical" compared to the first two (so were the first two rust? I hope so)? Accurate splits below:
