Notes

Run up Mt. Katahdin (twice), Hamlin Peak and the Owl in Baxter State Park. Had originally planned on doing a 65k rip up over Katahdin, then North to Russel Pond, then West to the road and then South over Double Top, but the rangers advised against it on account of Hurricane Irene a week before leaving the trails swamped.

20% Chance of rain turned in to a 100% chance of rain at 8:00am when it poured for an hour. It didn't rain much the rest of the day, but it left everything soaking wet making some of the granite filled sections slow going.

Up Katahdin via Abol in 1:57:00, down to Chimney pond in 3:45:00, up the Saddle from Chimney Pond in about an hour. Both ascents were very quick. After that things slowed down, top of the Hunt Trail was very slow on account of the slick boulders, and the Owl was a bit slow going up on account of fatigue and exposure at the top.

Had planned on going further, but my foot started to bother me a bit on the way down the Owl so I pulled the plug instead of risking hurting it further. Also I was 1.5 hours behind schedule at this point, and continuing would have been a long go.

All in all a good day. Personal record ascent day of about 10500 feet of elevation gain.
