Notes

LMLS, 17.2 miles at much faster than I planned. 7:24 avg pace overall, with 7:06 avg pace for the last 6 miles! With all the issues lately (hamstring, lower back, sinus infection, work stress, travel), I didn't expect much today -- I gave myself permission to run 8:30 pace when I started out. I also had a tough workout yesterday, so even more reason to not expect much. And no fuel -- nothing but water this morning before and during the run. The stride/cadence was quick and light, but it didn't feel strained at all. The effort level was much, much lower than during the MP portions yesterday. Wore the Hoka Clifton 3's, and they still feel really good. I will not be wearing the Kinvara 7's for the marathon. However, there is a new pair of New Balance Beacons on their way. If those are as good as the reviews, I'll race in those. They fit somewhere between the Hokas and the Kinvaras (cushion in between the two, and as light as the Kinvaras), which sounds about perfect.

I've had a pair of Beacons for a little over a month now (137 miles) and they've been pretty nice so far. I've used them for everything from easy runs, to intervals, to long runs.

Thank you both! This was a good run. The pace vs. perceived effort here gives me confidence. And I've seen nothing but positive reviews about those shoes, so I'm excited to try them out ... when I get home from my second travel week in the last 4 weeks leading up to the marathon.
