Took the day off skiing and rented some snowshoes to hike! Hiked about a mile and a half to the Lake all on packed snow and got a great view. Then decided to hike about another half mile to a ridge on our left to a ridge where we thought we'd get a slightly better view. We only sortof did, but this got me excited to hike along the ridge to a clear spot on the closest mountain. Hiking across the lake and up the ridge was on much softer and deeper snow and was much tougher for Dad and Joe. After they got to the ridge I took off and booked it for that spot on the mountain following some ski tracks. Made it about a mile before Dad whistled for me and I turned around. The last few minutes were TOUGH. Steep and soft snow. I tried going off the ski tracks briefly and it was way harder so I gave up after about 5 steps.
This was absolutely beautiful and so fun. I think I'm going to keep an eye out for some snowshoe sales this winter/spring because I definitely want to do more of this. Hopefully I can swing a job and move that gets me closer to the mountains so I can do a bunch of this next winter and maybe this spring even.
