Maui

Notes

Run:

Only did 3 today to take a break from the constant hills. I trespassed into the resort and ran on the golf cart trails but there was only one hole. No idea where the rest of the course is. Weird. Kind of a throwaway week so far but I got a workout in and I'm still getting out there so as long as I put in a long run on Sunday in Kauai I think I'll be in good shape.

Vacation:

This was me and Claire's favorite day so far. Started with an early morning walk to a local beach that says no tourists allowed. We felt guilty but we specifically didn't park there and went really early to minimize our footprint. It was really cool. We went down this kind of sketchy trail that hugged the cliff side and ended up at this red sand beach tucked into a cove and we were alone. Then we walked back, I did a short run, showered, and then we left for another secluded spot that our digital tour guide Skip (we gave him that name) told us about. It was like a 10 minute drive down the highway and we parked on the side of the road - no parking lot - and walked down an unmaintained path to a pool called Venus Pond by the ocean. It was us and a few other people. We spent about half an hour trying to take photos with Claire's tripod and she got quite a bit frustrated when the app wasn't working and these two people were just watching us the whole time probably judging the fact that we're getting worked up over a photograph instead of enjoying the place. We eventually put the camera away and swam a bit and had a good time. It was gorgeous, the water was a great temperature, and we even dared to do some cliff jumping. I'm surprised Claire did it with me. It doesn't look high in the video but it looked so high when at the top. Kind of like the high dive at sunset pool. In fact, idk why we didn't just go there for our Honeymoon. Anyway, once we eventually settled on a few more pictures, we went back and stopped at Tony's Place for lunch. I got another loco moco, which I guess is a thing here, and it was so much food I had to save half for dinner. We then got another chocolate chip banana bread from Hana Farms and went back to our air bnb where I took a short nap before we headed to Hamoa beach which is where we went two days ago when we got here. On the way, we passed a popsicle stand with this cheery lady working there who rang her bicycle bell and gave us a shaka sign as we passed, so we turned around and got some dank popsicles from shaka lady. What a woman. At the beach, we did some more surviving of the waves, I read a couple chapters of my middle school book, then we headed home for the day. I think we liked today the most because the pool was super dope, we love that beach, and we got some good local food. Solid last day in Hana before our flight tomorrow to Kauai.
