Skipped the morning again cuz I was stressing about getting stuff done before my work meetings. That's really becoming a habit that I gotta break. We did lego night with my work team at the end of the work day and I made a pirate ship. I discovered I'm not very good at legos. Once that was done I took Ogie out and got on with the run. I decided I was feeling good enough to try a workout. I had an itch for going to the track, but I checked three different schools and they all had sports happening so that itch is gonna have to get scratched another day. I improvised a loop on the roads and trails and just did my workout on that route. My plan was to start and end with a mile at HM pace with some amount of 800s at threshold (5:30 pace) in the middle. Felt super smooth on the first mile, then the 800s got pretty tough since I was doing 7-8 min pace on the quarter mile rests and there were some really sharp turns. It's crazy to me how gassed I get at that pace compared to 5:50-6. I guess that's why 5:50-6 is HM pace. The last hard mile was much harder than the first but I got it done. I had to climb a pretty steep hill at the start of it. In hindsight I'm glad I did my workout on a route with sharp turns and some hills cuz that simulates race conditions a bit better than the track. Knee and calf felt fine.
