Notes

Waiting and waiting for results. Still not emailed to me, but I found them on the site.

So, this was one of my best races. I felt strong and almost 100% recovered from the PTT troubles, as well as benefiting from a two-day "taper." Started out near the line (it's gun timed) with DD. Ran the first mile alongside her, and was prepared to stay with her throughout, but I sensed she would prefer that I wasn't there pushing her. She told me to go on, so I made a race of it from there on. It was a good opening, as I have been saying that a very easy start seems to result in better time in the long run. So I started picking up the pace, while keeping as comfortable as possible. During the next three miles, which were mostly the long climb up 84th and Adams, I was passing people like crazy, and with great ease, still keeping relaxed and maintaining the feel of rolling downhill, even though it was a significant incline. Breathing 2-2 from 84th on. By the final two miles, we were mostly strung out in our final positions, so there was little passing. Near the end I passed one maybe 14 yo boy, who decided he shouldn't let that happen, and he passed me back. I left it at that. :) By the last 1.5 miles I was tired, but knew I had enough left to finish strong, so I picked the pace up and was fairly blazing through the final stretch, as I passed DW & Phil. :)

Not a PR, but a course record for me, and as I said, one of my best races.

My team was DD, Joy, Ginger, and myself. Sabra and Carol ran the 3K. Greg, June, Taylor, and their friends did the 10K.

DD was happy with her run.

Saw Bernie three times, on 84th, on Adams, and in Mahoney. A dedicated supporter.

Also Exciting: After the race, Midnight Runner tracked me down and introduced himself. My first in-person RA meeting!!
