Notes
1st Leg: This was the single leg we were warned about beforehand, the longest for van 1, but more importantly it was mostly unshaded, 87degrees, and humid: I didn't take that warning very seriously though. I started off on a downhill with a guy to chase a few minutes ahead, ergo, I started too fast. Even a mile in I knew I was in trouble. I didn't know any splits, but I slowed the pace and hoped it wasn't too slow. The hamstrings felt tired, not sure if that's more the miles/not tapering or more the short workout yesterday. But more so, I haven't really been training in the sun heat much at all and I wasn't enjoying it.
Finally saw someone (not the guy I was chasing, but another team) with a mile to go (mile to go is the only mile marker on every leg). Knowing my distance left, I started to feel a little better and finished feeling pretty good, or at least that I could do a few more runs. I was pretty surprised with the pace, nevertheless.
