Notes

I've had on my schedule for a few weeks to do a 3 hour long run this weekend (that was ambitious, but certainly wanted at least 2.5 hours, of which I've only done 3 times). The plans changed quite a bit, first it was going to be in Decorah, then La Crosse, but we ended up staying put this weekend due to a few circumstances. I also was planning it all alone until Drew made himself available at the last minute. So that meant Beverly, and lots of looping.

1 condition I made was Drew had to lead. And like last week, I had trouble following right away as it felt faster than it should be. Of course, it wasn't fast at all and would actually be my slowest mile today. Soon I was zoning out and forgetting where we were and just enjoying running without thinking where to go next. Maybe I zoned out too much as I did trip over a small stump about an hour in (the same one Drew hit on Thursday). It was a quick fall but a soft one and we continued on.

Drew actually made it over 80 minutes which was a surprise, one I was thankful for. I put on my headphones and refilled my water only to discover I had hardly drank 1/3rd of it despite many sips (sips being the problem I suppose). I still had a ways to go and I focused on the podcast and getting better acquainted with Beverly (despite many runs there, it's still easy to get turned around or unsure of the many paths).

I stopped at a bathroom just to be safe and tried some gravel running to switch things up. I ran up a decent gravel hill, turned around, there was a train at the bottom, turned around and did the hill again. I think my perspective got messed up on the gravel though as I felt very slow upon returning to the trails. Or I was just getting tired. I had also rolled through my "2nd" bottle and my knees were starting to hurt. So I returned to my car for a refill but decided this was far enough (though I was very close to heading out for another mile).

3rd longest run ever (time wise), right between the 2 marathons I've done. Happy with the pace and effort. No chaffing and shoes felt fine (maybe a little rough by the end). I guess I need to focus on drinking more early though.

Rebel.

Nice run! How did it feel to finish knowing you would have 11 miles to go?

Nutmeg

I didn't really think about it. The legs were starting to go downhill but hopefully not too fast. Also I'm banking on the 50k being short ;)
