Notes
Wow, I had forgotten how good track workouts can feel, mostly because I haven't done one with someone in forever (I did check, and forgot I did indoor 200's with the Cedar Falls group last winter, not sure if I count that). Earlier in the week when I'd talked to Chris about a workout, he mentioned something faster to prepare for Grand Blue Mile, but when I arrived tonight he said he was doing 6x1000 at 10k pace, whatever I guess.
We did a quick 2 mile warmup then alternated leading.
1) 3:15, Chris took this one out a bit hard, so I got winded fast even though we basically slowed down the entire time.
2) 3:23, I maintained our finishing pace and kept it even, feeling much better.
3) 3:19, I'm enjoying pacing off of someone.
4) 3:17, feeling good now.
5) 3:18, leading felt better than following, but I'm not complaining.
6) 3:14, finished strong, feeling like I could do another 1 or more, but instead did a couple strides.
No, it's not like our times were fast, but I'm happy to get in a long, fairly-fast workout that didn't destroy me. We finished with a slow 2 miles as another guy joined us on the cool-down.
