Notes

Though it's 10 degrees cooler than my last run with Sutton, the sun was out (oh if only the overcast had held on from this morning). So less sweaty but more energy sapping perhaps. When Sutton asked how long, I replied with what he said on Tuesday: "8-12 miles", and he said: "Yep, 12 miles"...

We started from his house and I got reminded how long it takes to get to Raccoon River, not to mention it's mostly downhill and not shaded. So 2 miles in I was already worried about how much this run is going to hurt (had a hot run last year as well on this route when Sutton had to stop for a few minutes).

The pace didn't get crazy on the downhills, but once we hit Raccoon and fellow runners, the pace felt like it was picking up. We stopped for water and I asked for a slower pace soon after. I was still feeling strong but not confident (and we didn't slow down much anyway).

The next big hill was rough as we both shuffled up, but Sutton kept pushing on the flats (though I seemed to want to go faster on the downhills). I regained some composure for the last couple miles after we got out of the sun.
