Notes

Feeling good on the starting line, came in tied for top seed (though many with No Times), might as well just take the lead. I didn't push the pace and after 2 laps the top ISU guy passed me. I remained happy with how I was running the race and let him go as he quickly took 50m from me.

I wasn't hearing any splits and knew there was no one quite near me so I just focused on myself and my hurdling, which felt pretty amazing compared the my last 3 years of steepling. I've actually done a good amount of dynamic stretching in the last year, so I'll thank that for my return to form (I stopped stretching after college, I blame Drew and his methods).

With a few laps to go, I could see my competition struggling (though he was barely in view). I wasn't slowing down preparing for a kick, but I probably should have hit it harder. After the 3rd to last barrier, I took off with a big kick that I knew was coming. Unfortunately it wasn't enough as I still lost by 2.5sec.

At first I was pretty happy with 6:25, and I'll try to remain so as it was 10sec faster than last year which is a very good sign. But as I look at past times it is still my 2nd slowest as an alumni. In any case I probably could have run faster.

I guess I will accept the blame. Although I don't think I ever told you that you couldn't stretch or somehow restricted your ability to do so.

Correct, I made the old mistake of seeing something work for you and 1) thinking they were correlated and 2) thinking it would work for me. But you've already accepted blame so that's final.
