Notes

Leg 5 REROUTE: 4.2 miles, 37:15, 8:51 pace, 1000ft. A fire caused a detour to day 3. The first 9 legs were replaced by 7 up a different road. It was cool to see some new places but we did miss a few classics. As I was doing leg 5, I ate just a less than the previous 2 days (when I did leg 6). But each of the 4 legs in front of mine were very short and I ran over an hour earlier. I'm not sure if that was a problem or just the greasy sandwich and ice cream for dinner last night. In any case, this was my only big climb of the trip and I failed. I was reduced to walking uphill by the end. Thankfully I was mostly alone and could wallow by myself. Also thankfully, I didn't really lose much ground and our team made it up over the next legs.

Leg 13: 3.5 miles, 23:21, 6:42 pace. 1 more leg, generally downhill but not a screamer with a few hills to finish. I managed to recover from this morning and run well while staying close to aerobic.

Leg 19: 1/2 mile. I generally avoid any running on the final leg (any one can run it for any distance). But that's because I've usually done more running than anyone else and I'm ready to be done. This year, I did not do the most running, I did not do the hardest legs, and I didn't push myself to the limit much. So I had some strength in my legs and did 2 1/4 mile repeats with 3 others. I didn't time myself but hopefully well under 5 min pace.

6th Headwaters. My slowest, but my fitness showed through at times. I need to remember the good times since I wasn't looking forward to this weekend beforehand (mostly due to hassle/cost of travel and my questionable stomach).
