Leg 6: 6.8 miles, 37:18, 5:27 pace, 2000ft DROP. A new leg for me and one I wasn't sure I'd every do as big descents are usually reserved for those that like them or who aren't in shape to go up. But with an extra person this year and no one being in poor condition, I decided to go for it. It's hardly running, it feels different. You're just trying to keep the legs moving, don't trip, and don't lose control. I got into a rhythm the first mile then enjoyed myself for the next 2 or 3 miles. But at halfway, you've still got a ways to go. The miles go by fast and it's not "hard" necessarily as I was never breathing hard or feeling strained. But every joint and a lot of muscles are just slowing protesting louder and louder that this is ridiculous. Glad to have done it but hopefully not again.

Leg 12: 2.2 miles, 15:30, 7:07 pace, 260ft. I actually only had Leg 6 scheduled for the day, but I had also mentioned to Frenzy that I could take this one if he wasn't feeling up for it (which basically meant I knew I'd do it). I've done this twice before, which might make it at least tied for my most often. This was my slowest time, though not by too much. I started off quick but my legs and back were demolished. I slowed until Virginia City where I tried to keep pace on the slight uphill. Mostly I just saved some energy for the final crazy climb and I was happy not to walk.
