Church of the Sunday Long Run. Oh so I've heard, I don't do too many Sunday long runs. Monday's still dominate my history, though Saturday long runs have crept on since college. Today was a good long run. A bit chilly at first into the slight wind but great on the homestretch. A mixed bag though in terms of footing after Friday's snow. Generally the long stretches of bike path were good but sloppy anytime we were near more populated streets.

Surprisingly our first 5 miles were over 7 minutes or right under. This was mostly the footing but also being patient. We made it to our other normal starting parking lot about 5.5 miles and that led to about 5 miles of great footing. We took advantage and sped up to 6:30 pace.

Getting back to downtown meant a slowdown for a mile or 2. One final bad stretch but mostly rolling the last 3 miles. If we hadn't had to stop (for the first time today) with 1/2 mile to go for a street crossing, I bet the final mile would have been 6:10.

Other than some halfway-despair after turning around at 8 miles, the pace felt good the whole time. Around 12 miles I was losing energy and getting hungry, but I focused on getting to 14 miles figuring 2 more miles wouldn't be bad (and it wasn't). Despite a lot of runs with Drew this week along with ~7 hours yesterday with him (online board game and dinner for Copper's birthday), we had plenty to talk about and the run mostly went by quickly.

Doughnuts afterwards a la the Steele-Spoons, but it was bit more than my stomach could handle.
