Drew's House

Notes

Monday workout since Brooklynn has an appointment tomorrow morning and from Drew's place since he doesn't have car keys. The sacrifices I make! What's important is that it was a cool morning, 10x better than last week.

I was looking for a workout that wouldn't be too taxing nor depressing if we were slow. I had found this workout earlier this summer and it seemed like a unusual enough one that we couldn't really compare to other workouts: 400m repeats at slightly faster than tempo with just 20sec recovery between.

We eased into, starting at 6min pace and generally getting faster each rep depending on terrain. We went from bike path to crushed limestone around rep #10 but got faster as we could smell the finish. 16 reps was the minimum, neither of us were yelled "uncle" so we did 2 more. Blitzed #18 a bit too fast and called it good.

First 7 avg 5:50, next 6 avg 5:35. final 5 avg 5:20.

I think we successfully did what this workout called for. We got about 28min of faster runner in. The 20sec recovery was weird. While I certainly looked forward to it when it came, it was hardly long enough to enjoy and then we had to speed up again. This workout is practically more about the accelerations than the maintaining of speed.
