La Crosse XC

Notes

With a solid performance last week, I was looking for a PR course. And despite not liking LaCrosse too much, I thought it could give me that. It failed completely. Though I didn't help at all.

It's been a long time since I've raced in a xc race with more than 10 teams (appx), and even longer since I've lined up in the 3rd row of a xc starting box. Even with forgetting how bad these large invites can start, I still should have known to get out harder. So basically I started off really slow and the pace was pretty sporadic for the first mile. No 1mile split, but 2mile was between 11:10 and 11:20. Even with the wet and muddy conditions (I suppose I haven't mentioned that yet), that is a sad pace to start out at even in crappy conditions.

Anyway, I still must have ran the last 3 miles well since I finished in ~27:20, probably faster than I closed last week. Though that just makes me believe more that 1) I'm ready for a xc pr and 2) I could have ran much faster if I'd gotten out better.

Jim Drews Invitational

Buuuuut, there's no more 8k xc races to run and I'm already excited for track. Also, since coming back from injury, it's basically been one year of continuous training to get back into shape. I think I've accomplished that, and I also think I've learned enough about myself to get some real pr's this spring. So after my soccer match on Monday, I'll be taking about a week off, then getting speedy.
